On Monday, January 19th, 2015 volunteers of all ages came out bright and early ready to make a difference in their community and answer to the call Martin Luther King Jr. once made to the world “…What are you doing for others?” Volunteers met in the Sobrante Park community reformed church. Once there, the day started out with everyone listening to an inspiring welcome message by event coordinator, Mrs. Shabazz-Wade, followed by the break up in to groups depending on which projects volunteers signed up to do. Projects included a community clean up, and garden projects as well as a large community restoration project on Edes st. Once everyone was in their designated groups, work began and carried out in to the afternoon. At the culmination of the projects, the hardworking volunteers enjoyed lunch together and received a MLK Jr. Day of service T-shirt as a thank you for their participation! We look forward to next year, and hope to see you there! Thank you everyone who came out to participated!
