Lions Roar after school program serves an average of 100 studetns and offers both academic tutoring and enrichment activities for all students! Lions Roar After-School staff ratio is 6:100. We are dedicated and hard working staff that supports the Full Service Community School vision of Brookfield Village Elementary through the services that we provide. Lion Roar provides academic support through homework help, skill building, CST Prep and academic games. In addition to academics, Lions Roar also has enrichment activities for its students, Higher Ground Agency provide our students with enrichment activities around the following four company initiatives; Service Learning, Health and Fitness, Visual and Performing Arts. Lions Roar also has sports programming for students collaboration with outside agencies.

This week we are proud to share that our Brookfield Students made it in the OUSD Newspaper Kid Scoop News because they got the opportunity to meet one of the reading sponsors, The General Manager of Cintas Corporation in San Leandro, Dwight Mitchell. Through this experience the students learned about Mitchell’s life growing up and his successes he accomplished along with reading fun for over 700 students each and every month.
Earth Day at Brookfield Village Elementary School
Another important milestone is our second Community Planting Day on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 8:00am – 1:00pm. AAU Basketball League
Higher Ground Neighborhood Development Corp. will be attending its annual participation in the “Jam On It Youth Basketball Tournament” May 13thand 14th 2017, Sacramento, CA, McClellian ARENA.
Practice begins April 12, 2017 at Ira Jenkins Community Center
Cost: 100.00 dollars per player
Cost will include: Lodgings, transportation, lunch, dinner, and breakfast.
We strongly encourage you to send your player with 40.00 dollars for snacks and lunch on the way home.

Congratulations to our 5th Grade Basketball MVP Darius M. for showing great improvement overall as a student, and demonstrating sportsmanship & being a team player. Though all Darius’ hard work he made it on the Higher Ground AAU traveling team.

Congratulations to the 12 Work Force Development students that were able to go on the UC Davis college tour last week. We would ‘like to give a high five to Thomas M. for being the only middle school student to attend the field trip. Way to go!

Shout out to our Brookfield Families for such a big turnout at the March Brookfield Village Elementary Homework Diner. Students had the [opportunity to work with the teachers and their parents on their homework while enjoying a nice meal provided by the school along with games raffles and prizes.Well done Lions!
