WE ARE SITE OF THE YEAR FOR 2017!
New Highland/Rise Elementary is committed to encouraging, inspiring, uplifting, enlightening, and enriching our students as well as our staff. This is done by exposing them to different cultures and opportunities. Children are able to learn the art of cooking, dance, photography, sports, and many more. We are dedicated to see our children grow into resilient, intelligent, college educated members within our society.
The Solar Rays Program is structured in a way that all youth have a chance to have structured leadership opportunities (i.e., recycling monitor during snack). The program also works hard to create a positive emotional climate- welcoming each student by name when checking in, asking how they are doing, and structured reflection activities during most activities. Staff are also intentional about reminding youth about group agreements when youth are disobeying and framing it around community agreements.
HOME OF THE NEW HIGHLAND SOLAR RAYS!
We are proud to share that our very ownMrs.Taylor won the Peer to Peer award at the Higherground Holiday Celebration. Mrs. Taylor is always ready to help each and every one of her team mates with words of encouragement, training, motivation. The list goes on with what she wouldn’t do for her team.

Our Youth workers have begun their College campus retreats. They recently went to UC Davis. The youth workers were able to sit in the huge classrooms. The youth workers were also able to have lunch on the campus cafeteria.
We would like to thank our Parents for their generous time. We had to Parents come and raise money for the sports program. Thanks Trece and Elieen!
