Higher Ground's "Peer Leadership Youth Worker Program" along with After School Directors, joined CalSAC's annual After School Challenge in advocacy to support "Senate Bill 645- an increase to ASES funding and Cost of Living Wages" for After School and Summer Providers. This year, our organization was chosen to speak at the state capital in front of 300 out of school time professionals, legislators, and assembly members in support of the bill. Our youth and directors were chosen to speak in advocacy to members of the state sharing personal experiences and the opportunities after school providers not only for youth but staff. This year, Higher Ground joins the fight to improve program quality, staff development, and request an increase in funding to keep our programs from closing. We are extremely proud of our youth who spoke individually to assembly and senate members about why after school is important to them, their community, and families. HG believes in instilling life and career skills to make them leaders of the future.Support SB 645!
